Signed and dated 'Czachórski 1898' at upper right, label on verso 'Artist: Ladislaus von Czachorski (1850 - 1911) Title: Im Blütenflor (In the flowerpile), painting from 1898', min. scratches in the image, surface craquelé, frame. Trained at the painting school in Warsaw as well as at the academies in Dresden and Munich, Czachórski settled permanently in Munich after study visits in France and Italy. He devoted himself to still life and portrait painting as well as to the reproduction of scenes from 'Shakespeare's dramas, but it is above all his depictions of distinguished ladies in 17th and 18th century robes that left a lasting impression on his work.
